This calculator is one that I would recommend buying for people just starting out with lower level math courses like Algebra I and Algebra II in High School or College Pre-Algebra or Intermediate Algebra. Texas Instruments started production on this calculator back in 1993, and so it does not have some of the Technology that some of the new calculators have. For example it does not have a "High Resolution" screen and so you can not always see things all that well. The TI-83 and TI-83 Plus Calculators are improved versions of the TI-82, so it is recommended that you get them instead. But it is an ok calculator for just starting out. This is a very good graphing calculator. It is a little more expensive than the TI-82, but has a lot more features. It has a "Higher Resolution" screen than the TI-82 and it is also has a faster processor.  It can run all TI-82 programs, while the TI-82 can't run TI-83 programs. It can be used for any Math Class, except not recommended for Calculus. It is extremely easy to use. Learn More About The TI-83

This is an improved model of a the regular TI-83. It has 6 times the memory and an upgradable FLASH ROM, that is the ONLY difference between the TI-83 and the TI-83 PLUS.  If you intend to keep your calculator for a a couple of years I recommend this. Otherwise your best value will be the TI-83. Learn more about the TI-83 PLUS

The TI-85 is a powerful calculator. It has the power to be used in any math class, including Calculus. It is  more complex than the TI-82/83 and has a faster processor than the TI-82/83.  Most of the college level classes will require this or the TI-86.  Learn more about the TI-85

The TI-86 is an improved TI-85. It has more than 3 times the Ram and it is faster than the TI-85.  The TI-86 is a little bit easier to use than the TI-85.  But Everything the TI-86 does the TI-85 does.  It is sort of  like buying a new computer.  They both do the same thing but the new one does it just a little bit faster. It is a highly recommended calculator to buy. It has the power to be used in just about any  Math Class. As long as your not a Math major taking Advanced Calculus. If you are scroll down to the TI-89 and TI-92 models.  Learn more about the TI-86

This is one of the newer calculators produced by Texas Instruments, and probably the best. It has a 68k processor, the same one that Apple Computer used in the old Macintosh !  like the TI-92, so the games for it are very good. In fact, it is almost exactly like a TI-92 (with a plus module), but in a TI-8X case. Therefore it is allowed on many standardized tests, such as the SATs, while the TI-92 is not (due to its QWERTY keyboard). It is just as powerful as the TI-92 Plus, except it is more convenient because it is smaller and easier to carry around. It has as much Ram as the TI-92 Plus and it is as fast as the TI-92 Plus. It is electronically upgradable so it will last you for years to come. I highly recommend this calculator, it will work for any math class. It can be used at the Algebra level all all of the way up to the Calculus level and even beyond into the Advanced Calculus courses.  Learn more about the TI-89

It is by far the most complex calculator. This is has the same processor as the TI-89,  the Motorola 6800 the same one that Apple Computer used in the Macintosh in the early 90's.  This calculator has the Its QWERTY keyboard, 3-D graphing, and its pull-down menus are only a few of the things that make the TI-92 so spectacular. The problem is that it is expensive and it is also rather large, which can cause it to get in the way. We recommend this calculator if you can afford it. This is the only calculator that is not allowed on the SAT's because it has a QWERTY keyboard and is therefore considered a computer. It also has a great geometry program.    Learn more about the TI-92 / TI-92+
